DAY 1 – Arrival in Finland
Airport transfer to your hotel.
Accommodation in Helsinki, 2 nights, breakfast included.
DAY 2 – Helsinki
Helsinki sightseeing and Architecture by public transport
OR by hired car
Visit Aalto house and studio
DAY 3 – Säynätsalo
Train to Jyväskylä. approx. 3 hours, transfer to Säynätsalo, 30-45 minutes by public transport/taxi
OR self-drive distance 280 km, driving time 3.5 hours
Overnight at Säynätsalo, 1 night. Säynätsalo Town Hall
Boat trip to Muuratsalo Experimental House with a guided tour. Trip duration 2 hours.
DAY 4 – Jyväskylä – Noormarkku
Transfer to Jyväskylä, 30-45 minutes by public transport/taxi.
Aalto Sightseeing walking tour in Jyväskylä, 2 h.
Train to Pori, approx. 3.5 h. Transfer to Noormarkku Works.
OR self-drive to Noormarkku, (distance 260 km, driving time 3.5 hours)
Check-in at the Guest House Vainiola, designed by Alvar Aalto.
Accommodation for 2 nights.
Accommodation includes breakfast and a three-course dinner on both nights.
DAY 5 – Noormarkku
Guided tour of Villa Mairea, the building that Alvar Aalto designed as the home of his friends Maire and Harry Gullichsen, 1 h.
Optional tour of the Noormarkku Works area and the Voyage exhibition.
DAY 6 – Turku and Paimio
Transfer to Pori. Express bus from Pori to Turku. approx. 2 h.
OR Drive to Turku (distance 150 km, time 2 hours)
Overnight at Solo Sokos Seurahuone, designed by architect Erik Bryggman.
Transfer to Paimio Sanatorium and tour at the Sanatorium. 1.5 h.
Transfer back to Turku OR self-drive
DAY 7 – Turku
Alvar Aalto walking tour in Turku, 1,5 h
Travel to Helsinki by train, approx. 2 hours
OR Self-drive to Helsinki. (distance 145 km, time 1 hour 40 min)
DAY 8 – Departure from Helsinki
Airport transfer. Tour ends.
