Sustainability

Magni Mundi is now Biosphere Certified and STF labelled

The Biosphere Certification recognizes the efforts made by Magni Mundi to meet the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda. And on top of that, Visit Finland has granted us the Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) label for our continued work in sustainability.

Our commitment

Magni Mundi designs and produces sustainable services. For us, sustainability means equality and diversity.

Magni Mundi is committed to:

  • Providing enjoyable experiences through more meaningful connections with local people
  • Creating a greater understanding of local cultural, social and environmental values
  • Providing services for all without discrimination
  • Fair treatment and pay for our employees
  • Ensuring a safe environment for our clients and our employees
  • Working with local people to minimize the negative effects of tourism on local culture and environment
  • Participating in keeping the Baltic Sea and our unique archipelago clean for generations to come

In cities, we prefer sustainable walking tours over bus tours, and our guides use public transportation whenever possible.

We also offer virtual tours, so people all around the world can enjoy experiences in an environmentally friendly way.

We support local businesses, hotels, restaurants and authorized guides.

Part of our fees are directed to the upkeep of local cultural sites, such as Life on a Leaf House and the Ecumenical Art Chapel in Turku.

Paper products are used as limited as possible. All paper is printed double sided. Print paper is certified with the EU Ecolabel. Used paper is separated from residual waste, collected, and retrieved. EU Ecolabel, among other good qualities, minimizes the use of harmful chemicals, as well as emissions into air and water.

We are proud to be a signatory of the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism

Carbon Management Policy

Magni Mundi doesn’t own properties or rent office space. Our weekly meetings are held online, and we prefer to co-operate and meet our stakeholders online when possible.

Magni Mundi doesn’t own any vehicles. We promote using public transportation, walking, and cycling for our guides. All our scheduled theme tours start from the city center with easy access using public transportation for our clients and guides.

In our tailor-made travel packages, we offer public transportation as default. We prefer sustainable walking tours over bus tours. We also offer virtual tours, so people all around the world can enjoy experiences in an environmentally friendly way.

We choose suppliers with sustainability certification, or when needed, small local businesses without certification over big chains to support the local economy. Many small businesses don’t have time and resources for the certification process without help and funding from local/regional authorities, but they still operate sustainably in many ways. For example, serving local food is common in many small restaurants.

CO2 emissions – key items to monitor:

Number of clients participating in our guided tours/buying our travel packages and CO2 footprint produced per client.
Work related travel.
Office-related emissions, for example printed brochures per year.

A report on Magni Mundi CO2 emissions in 2022 can be found here (pdf)
